Sell a Salvage Title Car
A salvage title is not an automatic no. If the car rolls and the title can transfer, Nationwide Remarketing dba CarBidNow still buys it — salvage or rebuilt — in all 50 states.
Enter the VIN. Mark the title type honestly (never mark salvage as clean). Say whether it starts, runs and drives, or is inoperable. You get an Instant Bid for that condition. Accept only if the number works. Pickup is typically 24–48 hours. The tow driver brings a check at the truck.
Salvage vs rebuilt vs wrecked
- Salvage title — Usually branded after an insurer total-loss. Still sellable here when it rolls and paperwork transfers.
- Rebuilt title — Often salvage that later passed a state rebuild/inspection path (rules vary). Same buy rule: rolls + transferable.
- Wrecked / collision as-is — Title may still be clean or already salvage. Compare Sell a wrecked car.
- Doesn’t run — Mark inoperable in Instant Bid. See Sell a car that doesn’t run.
- Title stuck / incomplete — Start at Title help. We do not promise a sale with no path to a transferable title.
What salvage means here
A salvage brand usually means an insurer declared a total loss and the state branded the title. A rebuilt title may mean the vehicle passed a state inspection after repair. Exact wording and transfer rules differ by state — read the title in hand before you accept.
We accept salvage and rebuilt when the vehicle rolls and the paperwork can transfer. We can help with the title. If a lien is still on it, we can help with an eligible payoff. We do not promise a sale with no title.
How Instant Bid treats condition (and title type)
Title type is an Instant Bid input. Condition still drives the big split: starts / runs and drives vs inoperable.
Will the bid change “because it’s salvage”? The Instant Bid already reflects the title type and condition you enter. We do not publish invented dollar deltas vs a clean title on this page. Your number is the Instant Bid for your VIN and inputs.
Mark the car as it sits. A mismatch (wrong title type, or marked running when it won’t start) is the usual reason the number changes at the truck.
Title transfer, liens, and pickup
- Have the salvage or rebuilt title available; seller name must match who can sign
- If a lien appears, an eligible payoff is explained before pickup — see Sell a car with a lien
- Do not assume an open lien disappears because the title is branded
- After you accept, pickup is usually 24–48 hours (not same-day)
- Driver brings a check for the agreed purchase price at the truck — not cash in hand
- Keep keys, fobs, documents, and clear tow access ready

FAQ
Do you buy salvage titles?
Yes, if the vehicle rolls and the title can be transferred.
Do you buy rebuilt titles?
Yes. Same rule — rolls + transferable paperwork.
Will the bid change because it’s salvage?
Title type is part of the Instant Bid. Condition (runs vs inoperable) still matters. We do not invent percentage discounts on this page — your Instant Bid is your number.
What if it doesn’t run?
Mark it inoperable. Do not describe a no-start as running. It still has to roll. More: Sell a car that doesn’t run.
What if I still owe money?
Eligible lien payoff can be handled; we explain the split before pickup. Call 1-877-669-2431 before accepting if paperwork is unclear or you may be underwater. Sell a car with a lien.
Is payment cash?
No. The driver brings a check at pickup for the agreed price. How you get paid.
