Instant Bid vs a Private Sale vs a Trade-In
Three ways to sell. An Instant Bid is a purchase price from Nationwide Remarketing if the car matches what you entered. A private sale is you finding the buyer. A trade-in is a retailer's offer, usually at their place, often while you buy another car. None of these is automatically the highest price. The difference is who does the work and how fast the car is gone.
Instant Bid
No listing and no meetup with a stranger. Enter the VIN, condition, and title type. The bid is guaranteed for that condition. Pickup in all 50 states, usually 24 to 48 hours. The driver brings a check. Salvage and rebuilt titles are fine if the title can transfer. An eligible lien can be handled. The car has to roll. Cars that will not start are priced as inoperable.
Private sale
You write the ad, answer buyers, meet them, and handle the title and the money. It can take longer. A car that will not start is harder to sell this way. You keep whatever you and the buyer agree, and you carry the risk of a bad meet.
Trade-in
You take the car to a dealer, or you follow that company's process. The offer is theirs, at their location. It is not a tow to your driveway. A car that does not run may not fit their lot. We do not guess their price.
Which one to use
Use the Instant Bid when you want the car gone, the title handled, and a check at the truck. Use a private sale if you can wait and the car is easy to show. A trade-in makes sense when you are already buying from that seller and their offer works. You can get the Instant Bid and still walk away.
